Running for Joy:
How Blue Dragon's Running Club is Changing Lives

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation works with young people who have been rescued from human trafficking, spent time on the streets, or grown up with disabilities. The charity’s running club is one of the many activities Blue Dragon organises to give them a source of joy and a life-changing boost of confidence.

One young runner who has benefited from the club is Binh, an energetic 6-year-old with a big smile. Running has helped Binh to stay fit, socialise, and concentrate in school. He was so proud after completing the Vietnam Ultra Marathon that he clutched his medal for the whole bus journey home.

Another kid who joined the marathon is 12-year-old Thu, a deaf girl who had never run in an organised event before. Thu was nervous and excited before starting, but had a great time as she powered on to the finish line.

“Everything was new to me,” said Thu. “But the scenery was amazing, and there were so many hardworking staff supporting us. Even though I couldn’t speak, everyone I met on the run cared for me and helped me with food and water. Their encouragement made me feel very happy!”

Something as simple as running can be enough to transform a child’s life. With an outlet for their energy and a reason to get their bodies moving, these kids are having fun, keeping fit and gaining self-belief because of our support.

And now you can support these kids even more! This September 8, people all around the world will be raising money for disadvantaged children by joining the Blue Dragon Walk. It’s a fun, community-centred day that’s open to everyone.
