All the routes have now been optimized and finalized for you to prepare for the run. See the details for your distance here: 10km, 15km, 21km, 42km, 70km and 100km.
All GPS tracks will later be available for download. This will be announced in a newsletter to come.
AN EXTRAORDINARY MOUNTAIN TRAIL MARATHON
Vietnam Mountain Marathon is the result of a lifelong love of running and a fascination with Vietnam. Our beautiful route will take you through the inspiring mountain range of Hoang Lien National Park and its remote valleys near Sapa that are usually closed territory to all but the few.
Choose 10km, 15km 21km, 42km, 70km or 100km. Run between villages, through rice terraces, across bamboo bridges and past water buffalo and cheering ethnic minority people. Prepare for an extraordinary adventure!
DISTANCES
10K
Participate in this year’s biggest public run in Sapa and race against the local Black Hmong, Red Dao and Tay minorities.
Look out as the local runners are eager to compete with the international competitors!
21K
This Half Mountain Marathon is very hard, starting off with a serious climb right from the gun!
You will see beautiful valleys, local ethnic minority villages, streams, forest and high mountain views.
50K
This is a very hard but stunning Mountain Marathon for the experienced runner who is looking for a tough challenge.
The trails will lead you off the beaten track to areas which are rarely visited by anyone but locals.
70K
This is an extremely hard ultra-trail marathon covering all types of landscapes of the mountain range.
The race to the finish line and the stunning welcome from the other runners at Topas Ecolodge, located on a beautiful hilltop. Here you can relax and enjoy the feeling of triumph together with all the other mountain runners!
100K
This is a extremely challenging ultra-marathon that covers every type of terrain the area has to offer.
You can admire the sunrise while running on the beautiful mountainside, through the terraced fields along the stream flowing down from Mt. Fansipan – The Roof of Indochina.
FINISH LINE
The VMM finish line is at Topas Ecolodge.
Join us as we turn the hilltop of Topas Ecolodge into a mountain running party!
GIVING BACK: VMM CHARITY
VMM is part of the Vietnam Trail Series which has now raised over USD400,000 for good causes. Since 2013 VMM has funded:
- Projects in villages along the route, for example school boarding houses and classrooms have been constructed to vastly improve the education conditions for children living in the mountains.
- Support for kids in crisis through Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation.
- Surgery for children via Operation Smile.
- Saving lives with Newborns Vietnam.
