With a 99% finish rate (2024), the VMM 10km serves up awesome Sapa views on the way to the famous VMM finish party at Topas Ecolodge.
Participate in this year’s biggest public run in Sapa and race against the local Black Hmong, Red Dao and Tay minorities. Maybe you watched your friends and families run the Mountain Marathon on Saturday and now want to show them how to run 10km! Or maybe you just cannot get enough competition and want to combine a Saturday run of 21km, 50km, 70km or 100km, and 100 miles with a 10km run.
Look out as the local runners are eager to compete with the international competitors! The route starts from central Sapa Town and then heads down the main street, and soon you are out of town. Now run 2.5km down the valley on paved road and drop into the famous Hoang Lien National Park and its beautiful scenery with rice fields, rivers and trails beaten by buffaloes. Save some energy for the final challenge… a climb of 500m just before the finish! It is hard, but beautiful! VMM provide 2 checkpoints.
This year, we’ve kept the most popular 10km course aspects, while adding some upgrades to give you an even better mountain experience.
The run starts with knock out views of Sapa’s Muong Hoa valley, before passing through the ethnic Hmong area of Su Pan.
A single-track trail then climbs up the famed Mount Silverstone. When you reach the top, you’ll meet our flute players who will soundtrack your achievement of conquering the highest point on your course. We’ll also have photographers here to capture you against the awesome mountain backdrop!
From here, you will run downhill to a Red Dao village, then turn right onto a new section of single-track trail which winds through beautiful forest on the way to another small ethnic village.
You’ll emerge from the trail just a few hundred meters from the iconic VMM finish gate. The final stretch from here offers more incredible views of Sapa’s terraced rice fields.
