Lifesaving medical equipment funded by Vietnam Trail Marathon has been presented to the Moc Chau General Hospital Neonatal Unit, paving the way for more newborn babies’ lives to be saved.
Since 2020, Vietnam Trail Marathon has funded a partnership between Newborns Vietnam and Moc Chau General Hospital Neonatal Unit, providing both equipment and training.
This week, that partnership continued, with the handover of equipment valued at VND 290.778.000 (USD 12,000).
Upon receiving the equipment, Dr. Pham Hong Tuoi, Head of the Neonatal Unit shared: “With the addition of two Dolphin CPAP systems and one Beluga resuscitator, we will be able to save a lot more newborn babies in Moc Chau and the surrounding areas.
“It also means we can provide the best care for the babies right here, so that they do not have to be transferred to a distant hospital, which brings with it many issues.
“On behalf of the hospital, thank you to all the runners and to Topas; we hope we can continue this partnership for many years ahead.”
Ms. Suzanna Lubran, CEO of Newborns Vietnam, has been actively working with Moc Chau General Hospital since the beginning of the partnership.
She said: “Five years. One partnership. Real change for newborns. With Topas and Vietnam Trail Marathon, So Sinh Viet Nam and Moc Chau General Hospital, newborn care is reaching the next level. Seeing Dr. Pham Hong Tuoi shine as an ERC NLS instructor using her skills to help babies breathe at birth is truly inspiring.“
Witnessing the handover and realising the impact the equipment will have at the hospital, Nguyen Thi Ngot, Event Manager at Topas, was deeply touched.
She said: “The handover ceremony was such a moving experience; through the emotions of Dr. Tuoi, I could see what this equipment means to her personally, and in turn to all the families whose babies will be saved and cared for with it.
“All of us at Topas are very proud to be part of this project and the long term work we have done with Newborns and the hospital. It is thanks to all of the runners that we could establish this partnership with Newborns and the hospital, saving more babies’ lives.”
