World Trail Majors

Vietnam Mountain Marathon is part of World Trail Majors, a non-profit alliance of 10 independent, bucket list trail races.

Each World Trail Majors event maintains independence, keeping its individuality and personality, while coming together as part of something bigger. This offers runners a curated list of races dedicated to providing a world-class experience.

Each World Trail Major offers runners the very best of its region, with each race hosted by passionate, experienced teams whose common goal is to share the greatest possible trail event with their runners.

With the inclusion of Vietnam Mountain Marathon as part of the World Trail Majors, Vietnam now sits alongside Australia, Canada, Hong Kong/China, Japan, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, the U.S.A and the United Kingdom as nations with a race in this prestigious group.

Elite Runners

Alongside providing the very best experience for amateur runners, World Trail Majors has a ranking system for elites, allowing them to earn cash prizes of up to 12,000 euros for the overall season.

Elite scoring system

There are two categories: World Trail Majors and the World Trail Majors Short Series.

Elite runners rank on the overall leaderboard with their best two results at World Trail Majors races.

If two runners tie on points at the end of the season, then the best ITRA RACE SCORE (not their performance index) achieved in a World Trail Majors race will decide the winner.
