VUM is set to take place on Women’s Day and the stage is set for a hotly contested race on the women’s side.
Setting up an exciting contest, we will welcome Slovakia’s Veronika Leng who placed second, one place ahead of Vietnam’s Ha Hau just last month at the Hong Kong 100, the first World Trail Majors race of 2025.
Last year, Veronika’s victories included the Ultra Fatra 50KM (Slovakia), the TransLantau 50KM, and the Salomon Hong Kong Dynamic 25KM. She was also the winner at Vietnam Jungle Marathon 70km back in 2019, so it is great to have her back racing in Vietnam in 2025.
Vietnam’s top ultra runner, Ha Hau, has had a great run of results, with wins in 2024 including the Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB 50KM and the Ultra Singapore 52KM, plus 4th place at CCC, where she also scored 4th in 2023. Back in 2022, she took the win at Vietnam Mountain Marathon 100km.
Also in contention for the podium is Yuanyuan Wu from China. Like Hau and Veronika, Yuanyuan has demonstrated her ability across a wide variety of distances, with wins at the fabled Hong Kong 100 Grand Sam (100km, 56km and 33km back-to-back); the Mogan Mountain Race 100km; and the Chiang Dao Cross Country Trail 35KM.
