During VMM 2017 Operation Smile‘s Huong Giang met a young H’mong boy in Sapa town who was in need of facial surgery.
Topas Travel’s staff then worked with Operation Smile to bring the boy and his family to Hanoi on the Topas Mountain Express so he could have the operation. We found out he is from small village right on the VMM route.
We are very happy to report that the surgery was a success and he and his family are now back in the mountains.
Over the years VMM participants have contributed thousands of dollars to help Operation Smile conduct many life changing operations like this one. This is a beautiful example of how VMM runners are giving back to the area through which they run.
