The couple, Finn Lydon and Ellen Crombie, have been running together for years. They both have a love for nature and adventure, and trail running has become their way of exploring new places and challenging themselves. Finn’s love for trail running began six years ago, and he introduced Ellen to it when they met in Edinburgh, England two years ago. Since then, trail running has become their way of discovering new places and pushing their limits.

Filled with a shared love of travel and running, the couple decided to take on one of Asia’s toughest trail marathons, VMM, after graduating from university. This September, they embarked on a trip to explore Vietnam, visiting Hoi An, Hanoi, and Sapa. Opting for the 21km route, they were not disappointed by the challenge that VMM presented.

The race started early in the morning, and the couple was among the thousands of runners who gathered at the starting line. The stunning beauty of Ham Rong Mountain took their breath away as they were surrounded by clouds over majestic mountains and golden terraces. They knew that they were lucky to be able to experience such beauty while doing something they love.

As the race progressed, the terrain became more challenging, and the weather started to change. Despite the challenging terrain, Finn and Ellen remained determined and motivated each other every step of the way.

Finally, after two hours and thirteen minutes, Finn crossed the finish line as the first man in the VMM 21km, with Ellen following just eighteen minutes later as the first woman. They had successfully conquered Vietnam’s hardest trail marathon and were filled with pride and joy while admiring the stunning beauty of the finish area at Topas Ecolodge in Sapa.
